Penis Pumps: How They Work and How to Size One

This is the most expensive category in our catalogue — a median around €126 against €41 across all products — and, paradoxically, the least explained. Between dubious promises on one side and embarrassment on the other, plain factual information is hard to find.

So let us start with what matters most, and what will save you a pointless purchase: cylinder size decides everything. A pump that is too large never creates enough vacuum; one that is too small is uncomfortable and ineffective. It is the single specification you cannot get wrong, and it is the one product pages explain worst.

What a pump actually does

The mechanism

A pump creates a vacuum around the penis. That drop in pressure draws blood into the erectile tissue, producing or improving an erection. The principle is purely mechanical — no substance, no treatment.

Safety rules

These are not optional, and a misused pump can cause real injury.

Time

Short cycles, never continuous. Three to five minutes maximum at a stretch, then a pause with the pressure released, and fifteen minutes total per twenty-four hours. This is not a field where more produces better: it is one where more produces injuries.

Stop immediately if

Release the valve without hesitation if you experience pain, numbness, marked colour change, or small red spots under the skin. The last of these means the pressure was too high: stop for a few days before resuming, more gently.
